    Melissa Caissy, M.S., AMFT

Melissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a focus on Literature and a Minor in Writing from the Wheelock College of Education at Boston University in 2013. For a decade, she worked as a middle school teacher, mentor to high school students, and faith community leader for young people. Throughout her career, she consistently witnessed the need for greater mental health support among families, children, and faith communities—many of whom struggled with undiagnosed conditions and a lack of appropriate resources.

Motivated to bridge this gap, Melissa pursued her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy at California Baptist University, graduating in 2023. Her academic and clinical work includes a specialization in Faith Integration and Biblical Focus in Counseling Psychology. She has extensive experience integrating faith and spiritual pursuit in therapy and deeply recognizes the value of spirituality in healing, both for individuals facing mental health challenges and for their families.

Melissa utilizes an integrative and client-centered therapeutic approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating Structural Family Therapy, Bowenian Family Therapy, and Relational-Interpersonal Psychotherapy informed by attachment research.

An active member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), Melissa continues to support families and mentor students through volunteer work. She is also dedicated to educating church communities on spiritual abuse and the intersection of mental health, faith, and community well-being. In 2025, she will be facilitating a support group focused on the impact of spiritual abuse within faith communities.
